A Bit of History

@philabooks::booksellers was founded in Philadelphia by Richard Carreño and Ralph J. Carreño in 1999. The partners were early practitioners of Internet bookselling, understanding that the distribution of low-cost books in their specialised subject areas would be difficult, at best, in a free-standing, retail shop. Ralph Carreño, Richard Carreño's father, died in 2000, whereupon Richard, with the help of friends, pressed on, expanding the business to include niche venues at half.com, amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, alibris.com, and other portals.

More about Richard can be found at www.RichardCarreno.webs.com.
